BOOM! Studios has hired former Marvel and DC Editor Jeanine Schaefer in the newly created role of Executive Editor. The publisher also announced seven promotions among its editorial staff.

In her new position, Schaefer will function in a leadership role in the Editorial department while overseeing an upcoming line of titles. Schaefer will report to BOOM! Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon.

“Adding the powerful voice of an acclaimed editor like Jeanine to our team in a senior role provides a unique opportunity to expand our company's creative vision,” said Gagnon. “Jeanine is one of the best in the business and her addition to BOOM! editorial further strengthens one of the most dynamic teams in comics.”

Schaefer was Senior Manager, Talent Relations at Marvel Entertainment in 2014, and also spend more than five years as an editor for the publisher, where she co-founded the Women of Marvel initiative. She also worked as an Associate Editor at DC Comics from 2004 -2008. More recently she has edited Jonesy for BOOM! Studios (2015) and Motor Crush for Image Comics (2016).

Managing Editor Bryce Carlson has been promoted to Vice President, Editorial & Creative Strategy.

Senior Editor Sierra Hahn has been promoted to Executive Editor.

Editor Dafna Pieban has been promoted to Senior Editor.

Editor Shannon Watters has been promoted to Senior Editor.

Editor Eric Harburn has been promoted to Senior Editor.

Associate Editor Chris Rosa has been promoted to Editor.

Associate Editor Matthew Levine has been promoted to Editor.
