Dynamite Entertainment and Ian Fleming Publications Ltd. are taking James Bond all the way back to World War II in James Bond Origin. The series is from writer Jeff Parker (Suicide Squad, Future Quest, Thunderbolts, Batman ‘66) and artist Bob Q (The Green Hornet), and the first issue will be in stores in September.
James Bond Origin #1 sports covers by John Cassaday (The Lone Ranger), David Mack (Kabuki), Kev Walker (Thunderbolts), Gene Ha (Top 10), Ibrahim Moustafa (High Crimes), and Bob Q with Jordan Boyd. Retailers have the opportunity to order a “shared retailer exclusive” cover featuring art from Bob Q and their store logo. Retailer incentive covers include a black and white variant, virgin art variant, and blood red line art variant.
The events of James Bond Origin kick off in March 1941, when James Bond is a 17-year-old student in Scotland who finds himself fighting to survive the Clydebank Blitz.
Dynamite nabbed the comic book rights to the revered superspy in 2014 (see “Dynamite Nabs 'Bond, James Bond'”) and has been regularly putting out books centered on the character, most recently James Bond: The Body(see “New Bond”).
