Dark Horse Comics is assembling a vast hoard of Conan the Barbarian one-shots, short stories, and miniseries. The Conan Reader features work by Kurt Busiek, P. Craig Russell, Fred Van Lente, Kelley Jones, Ariel Olivetti, Dave Stewart, and many more in one 688-page paperback volume. Stewart covers the collection, which will be in stores on December 12 for an MSRP of $29.99.
The Conan Reader collects Conan and the Jewels of Gwahlur, Conan: Book of Thoth, Conan and the People of the Black Circle, Conan and the Songs of the Dead, Conan: The Blood-Stained Crown and Other Stories, and Conan: The Daughters of Midora and Other Stories.
In early 2019, the rights to the property revert to Marvel (see “Conan Returns to Marvel”), which will be releasing their own omnibus of classic Conan the Barbarian tales in January (see “New 'Conan' Omnibus Is What Is Best in Life”). The enduringly popular character is also coming to the small screen -- Amazon is developing a TV series based on the property (see “'Conan' TV Series From Amazon”).
