Swedish publisher Free League Publishing, makers of the Tales from the Loop RPG, will release a stand-alone sequel game, Things from the Flood, in 2019.

Free League announced plans for the sequel earlier this month (see “'Hunger Games: Mockingjay,' 'Things from the Flood,' 'Mutants: Genetic Gladiators'”), and is currently running a Kickstarter to fund the release. The campaign reached its funding goal (approx. $11,227) in less than 10 minutes, and will continue through October 9. Free League confirmed to ICv2 that they plan to partner with Modiphius Entertainment and Impressions for U.S. trade release, as they did for the Tales from the Loop RPG  (see “'Tales From the Loop' Adapted for Series”). MSRP has not been set yet, but the rulebook will likely retail around the same as Tales from the Loop ($46.99). Release date has not been finalized, but current plans for trade release will likely fall in April, after backer fulfillment in February.

The Things from the Flood role playing game will be based on Simon Stalenhag’s art book of the same name. Most of the art in the game will be provided by Stalenhag, and most game scenarios are based on his existing illustrations. Veteran Swedish game writer Nils Hintze will handle most of the print duties, backed up by the Free League team (publishers of Mutant: Year Zero, Coriolis – The Third Horizon, and Tales from the Loop).

The new RPG takes place in the 1990s, in the same world as Tales from the Loop. The players are not kids anymore, they are teenagers and the world is not as innocent. The Flood transformed the land around the Loop. Dangerous machines and creatures stalk the land, and the game itself is now deadly.
