Webbed Sphere, the parent of ecommerce retailer Troll and Toad and a number of other companies, has hired the former Executive Director and Deputy Director of the Game Manufacturer’s Association in executive roles. Former GAMA Executive Director John Ward (see "Ward Departs GAMA Office") will join the company as Chief Operating Officer and former GAMA Deputy Director Angela Ward as Chief of Internal Operations, where she will guide accounting and direct employment management as well as human resources.
The pair will begin work this month and will work remotely until the end of the school year.
The Webbed Sphere companies generated sales of nearly $40 million in 2018, according to the announcement. In addition to TrollandToad.com Webbed Sphere’s companies include Six Hogs (which owns brands Toy Vault, Auldhome Designs, Solstice Tea Traders, Attatoy, and Cornucopia Brands, among others), Golden Groundhog LLC, Binanza Stores, Sunset Properties and others.
Troll and Toad founder Jon Huston explained how he came to make the hires. "We have observed the success Mr. Ward brought to GAMA over the past decade as he grew their business operations with the GAMA trade show and Origins Game Fair, and personally observed his professionalism and success," he said. "Angela Ward will be a key component of our growth," he added.
"There are so many different aspects of the overall organization, it’s impossible not to be excited about the opportunities," John Ward said of his new role.
"I am very excited to be part of such a great team of people and such an exciting company," Angela Ward added.
