The Aquicorn Cove Board Game is a cooperative game based on the Oni Press graphic novel by Katie O’Neill (see "Kids’ Comics Roundup: A Fall Flurry of Announcements"), which tells the story of Lana, who returns to her sea-side village to help rebuild after a storm to discover that it is also home to the magical seahorse-like Aquicorns. Like the characters in the book, the players must balance the needs of their village with the health of the ecosystem. Their efforts are aided by the benevolent Aquicorns and the reef guardian named Aure.
The game was created by the design team at Oni Games, including Steve Ellis and Tyler Tinsley (designers of The Tea Dragon Society Card Game) and Ben Eisner and Tim Eisner (the team behind Tidal Blades: Heroes of the Reef). The game is intended for 2 to 4 players, and is designed to be family-friendly while exploring the same themes of environmental stewardship as the graphic novel.
This will not be the first game from Renegade based on an O’Neill graphic novel: The company released The Tea Dragon Society Card Game last year (see "Cultivate Relationships, Memories, and Tea").
