Alderac Entertainment Group is going back in time with the second expansion for its Thunderstone Quest deckbuilder. Thunderstone Quest: Ripple in Time lands in June.

Cards from previous classic editions of Thunderstone are featured in the new expansion. Ripple in Time can be played as a standalone quest, or the cards can be added to other Thunderstone Quest cards for more variety.

This expansion was included in the Kickstarter when the game relaunched in 2018 (see “Mike Elliott’s ‘Thunderstone’ Deckbuilding Game Returns”) and now sees a trade release. MSRP is $39.99. The base game is needed to play. Like the previous releases, this quest is recommended for two to four players, ages 14+ and plays in 60-90 minutes.

AEG also announced a third installment of its The Captain Is Dead cooperative game series (see “‘Planes,’ ‘Trains,’ and ‘Automobiles’ Expansion, ‘The Captain Is Dead,’ More”). The Captain Is Dead: Dangerous Planet ships in August.

The new expansion is a standalone game that has the crew of the ill-fated ship on its first away mission. As soon as they touch down in their shuttle craft, though, alien bugs attack them, forcing the crew to use its limited resources to repel them while searching for artifacts. Tower-defense and exploration mechanics give the game a different feel than the base.

The Captain Is Dead: Dangerous Planet comes with 89 cards, 64 mini cards, a game board, seven plastic markers, 27 character and device pawns and the rulebook. It accommodates two to seven players, aged 14+, and plays in about 60 minutes. MSRP is $49.99.
