The CW has ordered full seasons of three pilot shows, Batwoman, Katy Keene, and Nancy Drew, according to Variety. Pilots for all three were ordered in January (see "’Batwoman’ Pilot Ordered" and "’Katy Keene’ and ‘Nancy Drew’ on the CW"). Batwoman and Katy Keene will bring the number of Greg Berlanti-produced shows on The CW to nine. Check out the short teaser video for Batwoman below.
FX has released a trailer for Season 3 of Legion, which is below. This will be the final season of Legion, which according to series creator Noah Hawley was always planned as a three-season project (see "FX Winds Down ‘Legion’").
Sony has hired a former executive from FUNimation rival Crunchyroll to run the company, according to Variety. Colin Decker, who was COO at Crunchyroll, started at FUNimation this week. Decker will report to Gen Fukunaga, who’s stepping back from active manager to Chairman (see "Fukunaga Stepping Back at FUNimation") and Mike Hopkins, Chairman of Sony Pictures Television.
HBO has released three new short videos promoting Watchmen, embedded below. The new series is expected to premiere sometime this year (see "’Watchmen’ Cast").
Game of Thrones broke its ratings record with "The Long Night" episode, which told the story of the battle of Winterfell last week. Season 8 Episode 3 drew 17.8 million viewers with two linear showings plus HBO GO and HBO Now streaming, even higher than the 17.4 million viewers that watched the season premiere episode (see "’Game of Thrones’ Ratings"), according to Entertainment Weekly. Sunday night’s Episode 4 drew 17.2 million viewers, according to Deadline.
Sony is moving to develop a suite of TV series around its Marvel characters, according to The Holllywood Reporter. Those include Spider-Man and his villains, Morbius, Black Cat, Silver Sable, and all the characters from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, among others. Sony has signed producing and directing duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the pair responsible for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, to an overall five-year, nine-figure deal with the new TV shows a key focus of the plan. Not only was Into the Spider-Verse and Oscar-winner, Lord ad Miller were also the team behind the hugely successful The LEGO Movie.
