Maltese publisher Mighty Boards has partnered with Asmodee to bring its survival adventure game Posthuman Saga to the U.S. starting in June.

Set in the same world as Mighty Boards’ earlier Posthuman Survive/Evolve board game, Posthuman Saga imagines a world in which humans are no longer at the top of the ecological chain and now struggle to survive in a world where nature has taken over and mutants hunt them to eradication.

In Posthuman Saga, the players are the leaders of bands of survivors who must fight and forage in the inhospitable countryside if they are going to survive.  The game features a tile-base map that players can explore, combined with a story-based encounter system with more than 100 story scenes in which players must make decisions about how their survivors will interact with the wilderness as they try to complete their missions.

The game is designed for solo, competitive, and team versus team play.  It features role playing style elements, with each player guiding and developing their character through a series of encounters.  Posthuman Saga is a stand-alone game, independent of its cousin.

Posthuman Saga includes 4 character boards, 5 unpainted character miniatures, 12 dice, 28 marker pegs, 32 cubes, 8 oversized mission objective cards, 4 oversized mutant boss cards, 350 other cards, 641 tokens, 64 terrain tiles, 2 cloth bags, 1 solo mission board, 1 main journey board, and 1 storybook.  The game was created by Gordon Calleja (Posthuman Survive/Evolve) for 1 to 4 players, ages 14 and up.  Games take about 30 minutes per player.  MSRP is $79.99.

The game was produced thanks to a Kickstarter campaign last May that raised $304,931 in pledges from 3.658 backers (an average of $83.36 per backer).

Last year, Mighty Boards joined with APE Games to bring its ecologically-themed Petrichor to the States (see "Martin Wallace’s ‘Moa’ and David Chircop’s ‘Petrichor’").
