San Diego Comic-Con News: CBS All Access released an official trailer for Star Trek: Picard, the upcoming series about the life of Captain Jean-Luc Picard beyond Star Trek: The Next Generation (see " Patrick Stewart Returns to 'Star Trek").

The new trailer opens much like the teaser with a fly-over shot of a vineyard where Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) is spending his time, then reveals a broken and dismantled Commander Data sitting in a storage drawer.  The trailer flashes forward to Jean-Luc encountering a young woman, Dahj (Isa Briones), who he senses is in danger if she is who he believes her to be.

The trailer rolls forward to show flashes of new Romulan Warbirds and a Borg corpse under quarantine.  There is a shot of two Romulan prison guards standing on a catwalk with a sign below it that reads "This Facility Has Gone 5843 Days Without An Assimilation."

The trailer highlights Picard's crew for his new ship.  Thus far, the crew consists of pilot Cristobal "Chris" Rio (Santiago Cabrera), a sword-wielding Vulcan Narek (Harry Treadway), and a researcher Dr.Agnes Jurati (Alison Pill).  There is also a shot of a menacing Borg Cube that is missing pieces of plating.  Romulan Warbirds circle the Cube without being assaulted which indicates that the Romulans may have captured it or are stripping it for tech.

The two biggest surprises are at the end of the trailer.  Fan favorite Seven of Nine makes an appearance.  Seven seems much more personable than on Star Trek: Voyager which fosters the notion that she has become more human than Borg since leaving Captain Janeway's command.  Finally, the end of the trailer shows us a functional Commander Data with constricted yellow pupils.  Commander Data is back from the dead!

Star Trek: Picard is scheduled for release on CBS All Access in 2020.
