Gen Con News: Catalyst Game Labs gave ICv2 a sneak peek at Paiko, a new game slated for release in Q4. Paiko is a two player strategy-positioning game aimed towards intuitive players. In this Asian-themed tile game, players manipulate tiles with bows, sais, katanas, lotus flowers, and the elements, Fire, Water, Earth, and Air, to build positions on the board to protect their home side of the board while threatening their opponent's side. If one player moves enough threat tiles into their opponent's side of the board, they win the game.

One of the unique retail display features of Paiko is its box-shape which resembles an uneven pentagon.

"Funny enough, the designer brought it to us in an odd-shaped box and board, " said Loren Coleman, President of Catalyst Game Labs, "And we thought it was distinctive enough that we just liked it. It stands out nicely on the shelf, and yet it doesn't lose any of the structure or ability of a normal square box."

Paiko will retail for $50.00.
