Marvel Comics announced the return of the Infinity Stones in Infinite Destines, a story told across eight annuals beginning with June’s Iron Man Annual #1 and Captain America Annual #1.

Iron Man Annual #1 will be written by Jed MacKay (Black Cat) and illustrated by Ibrahim Roberson (Old Man Logan). Iron Man is on the hunt for the strange people that kidnapped and tortured Miles Morales. What he finds out about the Assessor and Quantum will shock him.

Captain America Annual #1 is written by Gerry Duggan (Cable) and illustrated by Marco Castiello (Doom 2099). The fugitive known as Overtime has escaped death row with his soul bonded to the Time Stone. Overtime has been gifted powers he barely understands and Captain America is on his trial.

Infinite Destinies will continue on through six other annuals, each guest staring a different hero or villain. Releasing in July, Thor Annual #1 will guest-star the Spirit of Corruption and Black Cat Annual #2 will guest-star White Fox. In August, Avengers Annual #1 will quest-star a classified character and Miles Morales: Spider-Man Annual #1 will guest-star Amulet. Finally in September, Guardians of the Galaxy Annual #1 will guest-star the Prince of Power and Amazing Spider-Man Annual #2 will guest-star Star. Marvel Comics has not yet announced the full list of creators.

The Infinity Stones were always destined to return. New and iconic characters are in a race to seek out and wield the Infinity Stones. The titanic clash for control will lay the ground work and reshape the Marvel Universe. Each issue of Infinite Destinies will also contain a chapter of Super-Spy vs. Super-Spy, a story following Nick Fury as the Agent of Nothing and Phil Coulson as the Agent of Mephisto.

Marvel Comics will release a hardcover omnibus of the original bearer of the Infinity Stones in September (see “‘Thanos: Infinity Saga’ Gets Omnibus Treatment”).
