In Viscounts of the West Kingdom, players become powerful nobles in a kingdom that is suffering from economic decline. They must curry favor with the people by constructing buildings, writing manuscripts, acquiring deeds to land, and working in the king’s castle as they travel around the kingdom from turn to turn. Victory points are awarded by completing activities, with rewards for increasing influence in the different areas of society. When the kingdom sinks into poverty or regains its prosperity, the player with the most points wins.
The game is intended for 1 to 4 players, ages 12 and up, and takes about an hour and a half to play. It comes with 208 cards, a 5-piece main board, 4 player boards, and 287 tokens and markers. The West Kingdom Tomesaga offers new playing options for all three games in the series, featuring a campaign mode in which the players play through the entire series as an on-going narrative. The Tomesaga also offers a cooperative version of the game in which the players compete against the Overlord.The set includes 2 Tome boards, 18 Tomes, 2 Overlord boards, 66 cards, 1 King’s Storehouse, 5 tiles, and 25 tokens. Copies of all three games are needed to use everything in this expansion. MSRP is $30.00. Releasing in December.
In September, fans of the Raiders of the North Sea series will be able to use the Raiders of the North Sea Collector’s Box to corral all of the components from the base game and the Hall of Heroes and Fields of Fame expansions (see “Pack the Longships with More ‘Raiders of the North Sea’”). The box empty box comes with an insert organizer and 200 limited-edition card sleeves that match the new box art by Mihajlo Dimitrievski.
