DC Comics is marking another Batman anniversary with a $9.99 comic, 1000 issues after the debut of Batman in Detective Comics #27 – Detective #1027. The 144-page special issue will include detective themed stories by high profile writer/artist teams including Greg Rucka/Eduardo Risso, Grant Morrison/Chris Burnham, Tom King/Walt Simonson, James Tynion IV/Riley Rossmo, Peter J. Tomasi/Brad Walker, Dan Jurgens, Marv Wolfman/Emanuela Lupacchino and Bill Sienkiewicz, Brian Michael Bendis/David Marquez, Mariko Tamaki/Dan Mora, Scott Snyder/Ivan Reis, Kelly Sue DeConnick/John Romita Jr and Klaus Janson, and Matt Fraction/Chip Zdarsky.
"Tribute" art by José Luis García-López, Jamal Campbell, Lee Bermejo and Jorge Jiménez will also be included.
Many variant covers are planned, including retailer exclusives and ten variants spotlighting both friends and foes of Batman. The special issue will street on September 15.
DC also released a $9.99 comic for issue #1000 of Detective last year (see "DC Unmasks the Details on ‘Detective Comics’ #1000").
