Artists Writers & Artisans Studios has hired former Simon & Schuster editor Adam Wilson as Senior Editor for its POP! imprint, concentrating on the imprint’s "Visions" stories, which will have artists in the lead creative role, the company announced. Wilson comes to AWA from packager INKubator; he also spent over six years as an Editor and Senior Editor at Simon & Schuster, launching the Gallery 13 adult graphic novel imprint, and over six years at Harlequin, ending as Associate Editor.
"Adam brings to AWA a unique combination of traditional, big-company, prose fiction experience, at Simon & Schuster and Harlequin with innovative, entrepreneurial graphic fiction innovative graphic fiction development at INKubator and Gallery 13," AWA CEO Bill Jemas said of the hire.
AWA is rapidly expanding beyond the range of comic titles it launched in March (collected last month, see "AWA Plans First Graphic Novel Range for October"); it’s launching a collection of non-fiction stories about the coronavirus pandemic (see “AWA’s Real-Time Comics Journalism of the Covid Pandemic") and new comic series for younger readers (see "AWA Plans Comics for Younger Readers") in December.
