IDW Publishing revealed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin #1 Director’s Cut which will hit stores in March 2021.

There is little doubt that one of the biggest comic book releases this year was TMNT: The Last Ronin #1 (see "'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin' #1 Breaks 130,000 Copies on Preorder"). The first issue of this miniseries currently has more than 180,000 copies of the book in print.

”We expected this to be a popular book, given its history and concept," said TMNT Group Editor Bobby Curnow. "Nonetheless, the fan reaction to The Last Ronin has far exceeded our expectations. This Director’s Cut Edition is a great way to give back to those fans and give them a behind-the-curtain look at what went into making this monumental issue.”

This 64-page special edition features never-printed before original layout by Kevin Eastman, story notes, character designs, and script pages. It also recants the lore of the future New York City depicted in comic. The cover art for this special issue features a new sketch-version of one of the variant cover art pieces from the first print run by Kevin Eastman, and will retail for $10.99.

Along with the announcement of the Director's Cut, IDW released the on-sale date for the second installment of The Last Ronin miniseries, TMNT: The Last Ronin #2, which will hit stores on February 17.
