DC Comics announced Wonder Girl #1 for release on May 18.
Yara Flor, the Brazilian Wonder Woman, has been a popular character since the character was revealed through a series of Twitter images announcing the development of The CW's Wonder Girl TV series (see "'Wonder Girl' in Development' "). She arrived in the comics in Dark Nights: Death Metal #7, which was followed up by her first full-appearance in Future State: Wonder Woman #1 by Joelle Jones (see "DC Comics Drops 'DC Future State' Announcement"). Now, both Yara Flor and writer Joelle Jones are back together again for the character's very own comic book, Wonder Girl #1.
This book explores Flor's origin story as she starts out in Boise, Idaho, but then travels to Brazil to search for something missing in her life. Her arrival in Brazil triggers a series of events that alter the world of Wonder Woman. Wonder Girl #1 features Joelle Jones as the writer, artist and cover artist with colors by Jordie Bellaire and lettering by Clayton Cowles. This book also comes as a 1:25 variant cover by Bilquis Evely.
