BOOM! Studios is repackaging the first three story arcs of Kieron Gillen and Dan Mora’s Once & Future as two deluxe editions, marking the first time this much of the story has been collected in a single hardcover.

Once & Future Book One Deluxe Edition will be a 464-page hardcover with an MSRP of $59.99. BOOM! will also release the same material as a limited slipcased edition hardcover with an MSRP of $79.99. This edition will feature an exclusive slipcase and will be limited to a single printing. Both are scheduled for release in comic stores on November 17.

BOOM! Studios launched Once & Future in August 19 and pledged to make every issue returnable and eschew variant covers (see “BOOM! Doubles Down on Its ‘Guarantee’”). They also did an additional marketing push through ComicHub (see “BOOM!, ComicHub to Collaborate on Consumer Marketing Program for ‘Once and Future’”). Whether because of this additional marketing or because of the creators (Gillen is the writer of the hugely popular Wicked + Divine, and Mora, a frequent BOOM! and DC artist, won the Russ Manning Award a few years ago), the book has sold well. In a 2019 interview, President of Marketing and Publishing Filip Sablik told ICv2 that Once & Future was their highest selling original series, in a year when average sales on original releases had increased 71% over the year before (see “ICv2 Interview: BOOM! Studios CEO Ross Richie and President Filip Sablik, Part 1”).

The publisher has released the series as trade paperbacks, with the first one covering issues #1-5 (see “BOOM! to Release Two Comic Hits in Collections”). The third volume is scheduled for July.
