Anime NYC, planned for the Javits Center in New York in November, will require both proof of vaccination and masks to attend, organizer LeftField Media announced. The policies follow the announcement by New York Mayor Bill deBlasio this week that proof of vaccination will be required to attend indoor events in the city.
The same New York City rule will likely affect New York Comic Con, planned for October at the Javits.
This takes convention Covid protocols in the U.S. to a new level; Pax West is requiring proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test to attend (see "Pax West Requires Vax Proof or Negative Test"), but to our knowledge this is the first show requiring proof of vaccination to attend.
LeftField recently strengthened its anime team with the addition of longtime anime exec Lance Heiskell (see "Lance Heiskell Joins LeftField Media").
