On November 23, the second volume in movie and videogame illustrator Francois Varanger’s illustrated version of H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness will by released by Free League Publishing and Design Studio Press.

At the Mountains of Madness – Volume II continues the story of the doomed Dyer Expedition begun in the first volume, released in 2020 (see “Baranger Illustrates Lovecraft’s ‘At The Mountains of Madness’”).  The book combines the words from Lovecraft’s novel with lavish full-spread illustrations by Baranger depicting the nightmarish ruins the expedition discovers below the frozen wastes of Antarctica.

Baranger’s work includes concept illustrations for the Harry Potter, Clash of the Titans, and Beauty and the Beast films as well as computer games Heavy Rain and Beyond:  Two Souls.  Prior to his work on At the Mountains of Madness, he also produced an illustrated version of Lovecraft’s The Call of Cthulhu.

The book will be a full-color hardcover in folio format, measuring 262 by 350 mm.  MSRP is $32.43.
