CEX’s newest series, Past the Last Mountain, is currently available for order on the Lunar website and will launch in February. The series, co-created by G.I. Joe and Power Rangerswriter Paul Allor (see “‘G.I. Joe’ #7 to Raise Awareness for Veteran Mental Health”),Silver Ledger Award winner Louie Joyce, and Space Corps artist and writer Gannon Beck, is a story about a dragon, a faun, and a troll boywho were imprisoned by the U.S. government 50 years previously and have now escaped. Each perfect-bound issue includes 46 pages of story with an MSRP of $5.99.
Lunar has also added three other small, independent publishers to its roster. In September, the distributor inked deals with Floating World Comics, which grew out of the bookstore of the same name in Portland, Oregon; Silver Sprocket, publisher of the Eisner-nominated Your Black Friend by Ben Passmore and No Better Words by Carolyn Nowak, as well as the FCBD comic Fungirl: Tales of a Grown-Up Nothing (see “Library Apologizes After Child Gets Adult Comic on Free Comic Book Day”); and the Minneapolis-based Uncivilized Books, publisher of the Eisner-nominated Ginseng, by Blankets creator Craig Thompson. All three publishers offer retailers a 50% discount.
Lunar also recently added Oni-Lion Forge for distribution (see “Oni-Lion Forge Adds Lunar for Distro”).
