In 1991, Walter Simonson and Arthur Adams brought together Wolverine, Spider-Man, Ghost Rider and Hulk to form the New Fantastic Four in Fantastic Four #347. The team didn’t last for long, but now Marvel will bring it back with a limited New Fantastic Four series, by writer Peter David and artist Alan Robinson. The new story will be set in the immediate aftermath of that first run, with the four getting back together to fight a crime wave in Las Vegas. The original FF will make an appearance, along with a surprise roster of villains. The limited series will launch in May.

This comic marks Robinson’s Marvel debut; his previous work includes Penultiman, for Ahoy Comics (see “Ahoy Schedules ‘Second Coming’”).

“Although their original stint was extremely short-lived, the alternate version of the FF has had its fans for years, including myself,” David said in a statement in Marvel’s announcement. “I am fortunate Marvel has given me the opportunity to revisit with them and take their battles to new heights in a new location with new allies and new enemies.”
