Marvel acquired the Predator license, along with Alien and Alien vs. Predator, in July 2020 and originally planned to publish new stories in all three lines in 2021 (see “Marvel Comics Acquires ‘Alien,’ ‘Predator,’ and ‘Alien vs. Predator’ Franchises”). It launched the Alien series last year (see “‘Alien’ Xenomorphs Burst Back Onto the Comic Scene”) and will release the first omnibus collection of the Predator comics published by Dark Horse Comics (which previously held the license) in September (see “Marvel to Publish ‘Predator’ Omnibus”).

Marvel Comics will launch its first new Predator series in July with Predator #1, by writer Ed Brisson and artist Kev Walker. The storyline will follow a woman who is determined to avenge the deaths of her family, who were killed by a Predator when she was a young girl. The first issue will have a main cover by Leinil Francis Yu and will go on sale on July 6.
