Scout Comics & Entertainment will publish new issues of Mike Barr’s The Maze Agency, a long-running series that has outlived many of its earlier publishers. First published in 1988, The Maze Agency stars Jennifer Mays, a retired CIA agent who runs a detective agency, and Gabriel Webb, a true-crime journalist with a keen deductive mind. Silvio Beltrano will be the artist for the new series. No release date was announced.

The first seven issues of The Maze Agency, with Alan Davis, Adam Hughes, and Rick Magyar as the artists, were published by Comico in 1988-1989, and the series was nominated for an Eisner Award in 1989. Innovation published issues #8-#23, as well as an annual and a special issue. Caliber ran a three-issue miniseries in 1997-1998, and IDW also published a three-issue miniseries in 2005-2006 and collected the first five issues as a trade paperback.

Barr is a longtime comics writer whose work includes Batman: Son of the Demon, the 1987 graphic novel that introduced Damian Wayne to the world, and numerous other DC and Marvel series. He is the co-creator of Katana (see “Deadshot and Katana Get Miniseries”) and also wrote many Star Trek comics, including Tokyopop’s Star Trek “manga” (see “‘Star Trek Manga’ in September”).
