There were a number of holiday game item offerings solicited in 2022. Game publishers have been slowly gravitating more and more towards this category of seasonal releases. In years past, they had traditionally left producing these types of games up to the novelty and toy industries. But as the number of game publishers grow, more and more these companies are seeing this category as an opportunity rather than an afterthought.

Retailers can clearly benefit from stocking holiday-themed game items. Walk-in traffic during the Holiday Season is usually high, as moms and dads are looking for gifts to add a little holiday cheer to their kids' stockings. Post-pandemic, there is also a bit of desperation and urgency mixed-in to their shopping habits because stock at the Big Box stores isn't what it used to be and hot items go fast, especially the ones directed at selling into the season itself. Hobby retailers can capitalize on this by offering alternatives for shoppers when the bigger stores have been picked clean.
