Pendragon Game Studio announced The Eternaut, a new board game based on an Argentinian post-apocalyptic comic.
The comic behind this board game was first published in 1957 by Hora Cero Semanal as weekly installments. El Eternauta, created by Hector German Oesterheld with artwork by Francisco Solano Lopez, tells the story of a deadly snowfall that wipes out life in Buenos Aires in a matter of hours. The main character, Juan Salvo, and his family manage to survive the snowfall only to have to fight for resources against the various invaders of Earth, which include giant insects, aliens with extra fingers, and other captured survivors that have been turned into robots.
The board game is set in the besieged city of Buenos Aires with a new group of survivors. The mechanics focus on the survival experience as players need to build a team, gather items, and fight enemies to help resolve objectives. This game is inspired by point-and-click video games of the 80s, so players can interact with any number of items within the game itself.
The Eternaut will hit Kickstarter in Q4 2023.
Flat River Group recently signed a deal to distribute Pendragon Game Studio's classic titles and new releases in the U.S. (see "Distro Deal").
