Legendary has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund Gundam Breaker Battlogue: New Build, a graphic novel by Gundam veteran Nobuo Masuda and artist Nelson Dániel that will be the first official Gundam graphic novel created outside Japan.  The Kickstarter has two retailer tiers: The New Build Graphic Novel Retailer Tier includes five copies of the graphic novel for $100; the Gundam Glitz Savings Retailer Tier includes five copies of the graphic novel with debossed gunmetal slipcases and five sets of three enamel Gundam pins for $248.  Both retailer levels include free shipping to retailers within the U.S.  While Legendary plans to release the book to regular retail channels if it reaches its $80,000 funding goal, the hardcover edition and slipcase will be exclusive to Kickstarter backers.

Gundam Breaker Battlogue: New Build continues the story of the web manga Gundam Breaker Battlogue, which itself is based on the Gundam Breaker video game.  The game allows the user to assemble custom Gundam mobile suits based on the plastic models and use them to compete against or cooperate with other players.

Masuda is an English Language Localization Producer who has been working on Gundam properties for over 30 years.  Dániel, who was nominated for a 2015 Eisner Award for best colorist, is the artist for the Detective Pikachu graphic novel (see “Official Movie ‘Detective Pikachu’ Graphic Novel”) as well as Legendary’s Pacific Rim and IDW’s Clue comics (see “Follow the ‘Clue’ in New Comic Series”).
