Oni Press has announced Eat Your Heart Out, an original graphic novel about a young woman named Blanca following her fashion dreams to New York City. The fairy-tale-inspired story, co-written by Terry Blas and Matty Newton, with art by Lydia Anslow and coloring by Claudia Aguirre, is scheduled for release on August 13, 2024.

Eat Your Heart Out is a coming-of-age story with a diverse cast of characters and a plot that wraps in drag, baking, and found friendships. "Feeling like you don’t belong anywhere, or like you don’t have people who understand and support you can be debilitating,” Newton said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “If it weren't for a few close friends several decades ago who showed me love and encouragement, I'm not sure where I'd be nor what I'd be doing today. I was eager to surround Blanca with a cast of characters who would recognize greatness in each other, and use their talents to help this messed up world feel more livable.”

Blas has written Marvel’s Reptil: Brink of Extinction (see "Reptil Bounds Into His First Solo Series") and Runaways, as well as Steven Universe, Rick and Morty, and Ariana Grande vs Sergeant Shade and the Clonebot Brigade, the comic book tie-in for the singer’s fragrance. Newton, formerly a scenic designer and movie blogger, is a contributing artist for Imbibe magazine. Anslow is a storyboard artist whose work includes Marvel's Spider-Man: Freshman Year. Aguirre illustrated the Sweet Valley Twins graphic novels (see "'Sweet Valley Twins’ Go to Random House Graphic") and previously worked with Blas on the graphic novels Lifetime Passes and Hotel Dare.
