Vault will publish the Deathstalker graphic novel as single-issue monthly comics that will start arriving in comic shops six months before backers of the Kickstarter campaign that funded it are scheduled to get their rewards.

The original graphic novel, a spinoff of the 1980s sword and sorcery films, is presented by Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, based on a story by writer, director, and special effects artist Steven Kostanski, and written and drawn by the creative team from Vault’s West of Sundown: writer Tim Seeley, artist Jim Terry, and colorist Kurt Michael Russell. The story finds the legendary warrior Deathstalker dealing with a virgin-worshiping cult, a mad-scientist sorcerer, an entire army, and his ex. Vault will publish the first comic issue in March 2024 with covers by Terry, Nathan Gooden, Conor Boyle, Patrick Gañas, Angela Wu, and Boris Vallejo, the artist for the original Deathstalker poster.

The Deathstalker graphic novel was originally funded on Kickstarter in November 2023 with $51,177 in pledges from 645 backers. The campaign did not include a retailer tier per se, although retailers could order copies through a retailer portal. According to the campaign page, backers will get their rewards in September 2024.

Vault announced a partnership in October with the horror/fantasy publisher Aetheon (see “Vault Partners with Ebook and Audiobook Publisher Aetheon”).
