CMON and Spin Master are collaborating on DC Heroes United, a new game based on DC properties in the United system, which the companies use as the engine for their Marvel United games. The game will first launch on Gamefound in July, under CMON’s exclusive relationship with the crowdfunding platform (see “CMON Inks Exclusivity with Gamefound”), with trade release to follow.
Players will build a team of heroes to use to oppose a team of villains, using “simple rules, deep strategy, easy setup, quick playtime, and variable difficulty,” CMON said in the description of the project. Rules for the United system are being refined and optimized for the new DC version.
The Marvel versions in the United system have received a strong response. The initial Marvel Heroes United game (see “’Marvel United’”) raised $2,866,168 on Kickstarter in 2020; more recently, the Marvel United: Multiverse campaign last year raised $4,787,626.
CMON and Spin Master released Marvel United Spider-Geddon directly to retail without crowdfunding earlier this year (see “’Spider-Geddon’ Heads to Retail”).
