ComicBooks For Kids (CB4K), the nonprofit that distributes comics and pop culture items to children in hospitals and cancer centers, presented its annual awards and made some key announcements during its first-ever panel at C2E2 on April 26.

Art Baltazar announced that he is creating a special comic for distribution to children in hospitals, although he will offer a small number of copies for sale with the proceeds going to CB4K.

Funko founder Michael Becker accepted his company’s Pop Culture Award with a pledge of continued support for CB4K, as did Brittany McManus of CGC; DC Comics Group Editor Katie Kubert accepted the Publisher Award for DC Comics and highlighted her company’s continued support for the cause.  CB4K is working with DC to produce two new reprints of Superman #39 with variant covers by Laura Braga and Shawn McManus (see “ComicBooks For Kids Unveils New Variant Covers”).

At the panel, CB4K Founder and President Mark Weiss also said the organization has a retailer kit in the works and is also working on a retailer affiliate program.
