Dark Horse Comics will publish a new omnibus edition of Tom Sidell’s Gunnerkrigg Court, a middle-grade/YA fantasy tale set in a mysterious boarding school. The story begins with the arrival of a girl named Antimony Carver, whose mother has died and whose father has disappeared under mysterious circumstances, at Gunnerkrigg Court. As she explores her new school with her friend Kat, Antimony finds the school and the forest that surrounds it are filled with mysteries and supernatural phenomena. Originally created as a webcomic, Gunnerkrigg Court was published in print by Archaia (now an imprint of BOOM! Studios) starting in 2009 (see “Mark Smylie on the Next ‘Mouse Guard’”). The first volume won a Cybils Award and was included in YALSA’s 2010 Great Graphic Novels for Teens list.
The first volume of Dark Horse’s omnibus editions will include the first two volumes of the Archaia edition, Orientation and Research, and will have a new cover and updated interior art. The standard edition of the 586-page omnibus will be a paperback with an MSRP of $29.99, and Dark Horse will also release a hardcover edition that will be limited to 1,000 copies and will have a signed and numbered tip-in page. Publication date is November 5, 2024 in bookstores and November 6, 2024 in comic shops. The story is rated for ages 10 and up.
