Wizards of the Coast released its new Magic: The Gathering Banned and Restricted List announcements on May 13, 2024.

This update to the banned and restricted lists featured a few changes to the Legacy, Vintage, and Pauper formats. The new updates included the following moves:

  • Cards that bring stickers or Attractions into play are banned in Legacy, Vintage, and Pauper formats.
  • All That Glitters is banned in the Pauper format.

The sticker and Attraction cards from the Unfinity set (see "'Unfinity' Product Line Deets") were bound to cause problems eventually for eternal formats due to their fun experimental nature. All it would take was one playable card, and that card was ____ Goblin. _____ Goblin became a card played in the Legacy Goblins deck and players would have to haul around additional sticker decks to tournaments on the off-chance they could copy the problematic spell. This made matches complicated, thus all sticker and Attraction cards were banned to mitigate further issues in the future.

All That Glitters was banned because it polarized the Pauper format, and may have caused more issues after the release of Modern Horizons 3 (see "Modern Horizons 3'"). So, WotC decided to slow down Affinity decks in the format by banning this card before it became a problem.
