Tokyopop is moving to Penguin Random House Publisher Services for book channel distribution, the companies announced. The new multi-year sales and distribution agreement will kick off on January 1, 2025.
This new agreement moves book channel distribution from IPG, where Tokoypop had moved in 2020, from Diamond Book Distributors (see “Tokyopop Moves Book Distro”).
Tokyopop has had substantial success with its Disney Manga releases tied to Nightmare Before Christmas and Stitch, which began hitting bestseller charts last fall (see “September 2023 BookScan”). Tokyopop plans to expand its release schedule this year (see “ICv2 Interview: Tokyopop COO Marc Visnick”).
Note: Tokyopop informed us (May 16,3:30 p.m. CT) that in addition to granting PRHPS rights to sell into the direct market, Diamond Comic Distributors will also continue to distribute Tokyopop products to comic stores . - ed.
