BOOM! Studios President of Publishing and Marketing Filip Sablik is leaving the company for a new opportunity, a BOOM! spokesperson confirmed to ICv2. Sablik has been at BOOM! for 12 years; he joined BOOM! Studios as Vice President of Publishing and Marketing in 2012 (see "Sablik Goes BOOM!"), and was promoted to President of Publishing and Marketing in 2014 (see "Sablik Moves Up"). Sablik began his career in comics in the 00s with six years at Diamond Comic Distributors, moved to Top Cow Productions, Inc. in 2006, and became Publisher there in 2008 (see "Sablik Named Publisher").
BOOM! has had an unconventional management structure since the departure of CEO Ross Richie in 2021 (see "Richie Moves to Chairman"), leaving Sablik, President - Development Stephen Christy, Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon, and the CFO (currently Jennifer Harned, see “New CFO at BOOM!") in charge, with no new CEO named. There’s no news yet on what the leadership of the company will look like post-Sablik.
We did a lengthy interview with Sablik earlier this year, in which he talked about his views of the market and BOOM!’s publishing strategy (see "ICv2 Interview: Filip Sablik").
