PSA announced that they will be adding comic book grading to their list of services offered.
The new services were added move PSA from a company dealing primarily with cards and autographs into a new category in hopes of growing their brand. PSA also released new survey that details information about the crossover factor between comic and card collectors.
According to their survey conducted with 5,500 adults, almost half (48%) of the comic collectors amongst this group also collected TCGs or sports trading cards. About a third (31%) of those same collectors also had an affinity towards Pokemon TCG and Magic: The Gathering cards. Additionally, about a third (34%) of those collectors also were into collecting sports cards. While this is a relatively small sample size, it does provide a snapshot as to how comic collecting and card collecting sometimes intersect.
PSA also recently acquired SGC (see "Acquires SCG").
