Eric Gitter, producer of the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, is forming a new comics and graphic novel publishing company, and he has recruited three comics pros to run it: Filip Sablik, former BOOM! Studios President of Publishing and Marketing (see "Sablik Leaving BOOM!"); Jamie Rich, former Editor-in-Chief at IDW Publishing (see "People on the Move"); and comics writer and artist Jeremy Haun. The initial announcement did not include the name of the new company or any publishing plans.
In other publishing news, Mad Cave Studios has announced a new imprint, Nakama Press, which will feature manga, manhwa, manhua (Chinese comics), manfra (French comics created with a manga sensibility), and licensed titles. The catalog will be broad, with works for all ages in a variety of genres and styles, and while that's still a bit vague, Mad Cave did mention partnerships with two studios with whom Mad Cave already has relationships, Tatsunoko Production (see "Mad Cave to Publish 'Gachaman' Comics") and Rainbow Group (see "'Winx Club'"). More information will be announced at the Mad Cave panel at AnimeNYC.
