IDW Publishing has announced a new ongoing series, Star Trek: Defiant, set in the continuity of its flagship Star Trek ongoing series. Written by Chris Cantwell (Iron Man, Star Wars: Obi-Wan) with art by Angel Unzueta (Star Wars: Poe Dameron, The Flash), this series puts Lieutenant Commander Worf front and center as he assembles his own crew, including Spock, B’Elanna, and Lore, to stop the human leader of a genocidal cult that threatens the galaxy. Star Trek: Defiant #1 will be released in March with covers by Unzueta, Malachi Ward, Declan Shalvey, David Aja, and Daniel Warren Johnson.

IDW will launch a new ongoing series, simply titled Star Trek, later this month, as the first part of their plan to build an expansive yet accessible new Star Trek universe of stories (see “IDW to Launch New ‘Star Trek’ Flagship Comics Series”). Star Trek: Defiant is the first expansion of this continuity and will have a darker tone.
