Marvel Comics will launch Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, the official prequel comic to the upcoming Disney+ animated series of the same name, in December. The TV series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man from showrunner Jeff Trammel, was originally titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year and has been in development since 2021 (see "Spider-Man Animated Series"). Drop date on Disney+ has not been announced.
The five-issue series is written by Christos Gage with art by Eric Gapstur, with stories from the same period as the TV show, the very earliest days of Spider-Man. In the comic, Peter Parker discovers his powers, decides to become a hero, and picks his name and costume. The comic also introduces a new character to this part of Peter Parker’s timeline, Nico Minoru from Runaways.
Two covers have been announced, one by Leonardo Romero and an animation variant.
