Ed Piskor’s final finished work, Switchblade Shorties, will be published by his family via a crowdfunding campaign on Zoop. The campaign includes two retailer bundles of five hardcovers, one with and without dust jackets, at a 50% discount.
Switchblade Shorties is an underground comix-style gag strip about a group of feral children and their adventures. It started as a backup strip, then titled Latchkey Kids, in Piskor’s Red Room comics (see “Fantagraphics to Publish Ed Piskor’s ‘Red Room’”), and he retitled it when he launched it online as a daily comic on his Patreon and on the Webtoon platform. Piskor, who died in April 2024 (see “RIP Ed Piskor”), wrote, drew, colored, and lettered the strip himself. The print edition will be a 176-page, 12” x 9” landscape-format hardcover.
As of this writing, the campaign has already surpassed its $10,000 goal, with over $27,000 in pledges from 320 supporters.
