Hollywood news is heating up towards Black Friday, and it's time for a round-up!
Amazon MGM studios is currently in talks with Sophie Turner to play Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider series, according to Deadline. Turner, who played Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones and Jean Grey in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, screen-tested for the role in October. This series was officially ordered back in May 2024 and will be written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (see "'Tomb Raider' Series").
Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum recently did an interview with Phase Hero podcast where he talked about developments with the MCU Defenders characters that could be sparked by the release of Daredevil: Born Again, according to Forbes. It seems that The Punisher will make an appearance in this series and will enter the MCU, and that Winderbaum is already eyeing a Jessica Jones MCU show. There are also plans for Charlie Cox to appear as Daredevil in the MCU outside of this long-delayed series (see "'Daredevil: Born Again'").
Lady Gaga will make an appearance in Wednesday Season 2, according to Variety. The appearance will be in the form of a cameo role, although Variety's sources say that the show wanted her for a larger role. Lady Gaga also recently appeared as Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie A Deux (see "'Joker: Folie a Deux' Tanks").
Rey Skywalker will play a role in the new Star Wars trilogy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The role Rey will play is thus far unclear, but this character is part of Simon Kinberg's vision for shaping the trilogy (see "New 'Star Wars' Movie Trilogy").
Disney+ released a new trailer for What If...? Season 3 (see below). This animated series is headed to streaming on December 22, 2024 (see "Marvel on Disney+ 2025").
