Wizkids, Inc. has hired Mike Webb to be their new General Manager.
Mike Webb is a well-known games industry veteran that had spent over two decades with Alliance Game Distributors, ending his tour of duty there as their Vice President of Marketing and Customer Service. From Alliance, he moved onto Paizo, Inc. in 2021 (see "Mike Webb Hired by Paizo, Inc."). There, he led their sales team, replacing longtime Director of Sales, Pierce Watters, who retired that year.
Webb is an excellent fit for a lead role at WizKids. Alliance has been dealing with WizKids for decades, and had even inked a deal to go exclusive with Alliance starting in 2007 (see "EXTRA: WizKids Goes Exclusive"). Webb has decades of experience dealing with WizKids from the distribution side, which means he's seen what WizKids has done right or wrong over the years from that perspective. This experience should prove invaluable to WizKids going forward, especially as the company continues to sort out the mess caused by the Diamond/Alliance sale (see "Unsecured Creditor" and also, "Diamond Net Worth Declines") and rejuvenate their leadership after longtime President Justin Ziran left the company to join Sirius Dice (see "Justin Ziran to Sirius Dice").
On another note, Webb had also mentioned that he will continues do work with Paizo, Inc. at WizKids, on the licensing side. WizKids produces Pathfinder Battles (see "New 'Pathfinder Battles'") and other miniatures products for both Starfinder and Pathfinder.
