Urban Vision has announced that it will launch a new line of Asian live action movies next year under the AsiaVision brand. The first release in the new line will be Azumi, which will get a limited theatrical release next spring, followed by a DVD release in Q2. Azumi is based on the manga by Yu Koyama, which sold over 8 million copies in Japan. The lead character is a female assassin, trained from childhood along with other youths, whose goal is to exterminate three rebel warlords and avert civil war.
On March 1, AsiaVision will release Curse, Death & Spirit, a collection of three horror stories directed by Hideo Nakata (Ringu, the Ring 2) for Japanese television prior to his more well-known work.
On April 4, Asiavision will release Kill Devil, 'a slasher film centered around unwilling teens who are placed in an experiment involving a 'murder gene;'' and Kokkuri, about the Japanese teen fixation with a spirit who can be called upon to answer any question.
