GDH (aka Gonzo) has announced that rapper RZA of Wu-Tang Clan fame will compose the soundtrack for the anime series Afro Samurai, which is being produced by Gonzo in Japan, and which will debut on the Spike TV network this fall.  The series, which is based on the manga by Takashi Okazaki, will debut in the 2006 in the U.S. and will then be aired in Japan with the original English voice cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson as the voice of the eponymous hero and Japanese subtitles.  Jackson is a co-producer of the series (see 'Afro Samurai to Debut on Spike TV'), which FUNimation will distribute on DVD (see 'FUNimation Acquires Afro Samurai').

 

RZA has already amassed a number of scoring credits including Quentin Tarentino's Kill Bill, Jim Jarmusch's Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai and David Goyer's Blade: Trinity.
