David Loftus of AK Comics in Beloit, Wisconsin writes in to share his thoughts on the current discussion regarding Diamond's "Day Early Delivery" survey (see "Diamond Surveys Tuesday Comics"):
I guess I'll throw me 2 cents into the opinion pool in regards to receiving comics a day early (Tuesday for on-sale Wednesday, or Monday for on-sale Tuesday). I don't have a problem with either a Tuesday or a Wednesday on-sale date. The only problem I do have (and one I haven't seen addressed yet) is the fee Diamond wants to charge us to receive our books the day before the on-sale date. Why should I have to pay for Diamond to hire a third party to police dishonest retailers? I've never sold an item prior to the on-sale date, be it comics, Magic cards, or any other time sensitive item, so why should I have to pay for others peoples idiocy?
In my opinion, if a retailer is caught selling his books early, then he/she should lose their Diamond account immediately.
