The debut of Joss Whedon’s The Avengers on May 4th is just over five weeks away and it seems like almost every day now Marvel Studios is releasing new images from the film.  Today’s batch of stills feature shots of director Joss Whedon in action, working one-on-one with his talented cast, and in one case standing in for Captain America while holding the iconic shield.  Some new stills were released yesterday (see “New Avengers Stills”), while last week’s batch of images detailed the interior of the Helicarrier (see “New Avengers Stills Show Helicarrier Interior”), but this latest group is among the most interesting released yet, since they chronicle Whedon’s work with the cast and clearly show that he is very much a “hands-on” helmer who works closely with his actors—check out the image of the gesticulating director deep in conversation with Chris Hemsworth who plays Thor.  Be sure to click on the images for a much better view.

Whedon appears equally engaged with Samuel L. Jackson in this shot.

No director here, but this shot of Hawkeye in action is way too good to pass up.
