Warner Bros. is reviewing the depictions of weapons in the upcoming Beware the Batman CGI animated series, according to Variety. The review is being undertaken in the wake of the shootings in Aurora, Colorado at a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises. The look of weapons will be made more stylized and some situations will also be changed, according to the report. Beware the Batman will be aired on Cartoon Network in the new DC programming block on the network (see "'Beware the Batman' Teaser").
This is one of a number of reactions that Warner Bros. is taking to the shootings, which has already significantly altered the rollout of The Dark Knight Rises, and pulled trailers for Gangster Squad, which depicts shootings at a theater (see "Studios Delay B.O. Numbers"). Release of that film has now been delayed.
Beware the Batman is one of two new Batman animated series in development; the other is based on The Dark Knight Returns (see "Miller's 'The Dark Knight Returns' Gets Animated").
