IDW Limited has announced a signed, limited release of Feldstein: The MAD Life and Fantastic Art of Al Feldstein, which celebrates the life and career of the famed EC Comics and Mad Magazine artist and editor. Numbering only 500 copies, each is signed by Feldstein and author Grant Geissman and retails for $125.00.
The deluxe hardcover includes a slipcase and is both a coffee table book and biography of the EC Comics and MAD writer and editor. Collecting rare and unpublished photographs, Feldstein also showcases full color reproductions of all of Feldstein's EC covers alongside the original artwork, complete EC stories, as well as house ads and splash pages Feldstein designed for EC. In addition to examining his thirty year career with MAD, Feldstein also includes an unprecedented look at the artist's life after comics, specifically his canvas and commissioned work.
This new volume honoring Feldstein also adds to IDW’s growing line of art books, which also includes The Best of EC (see "IDW's Ted Adams on 2013 and the Risks, Part 3").
Feldstein's long tenure with EC has been the subject a recent attempt by him to regain copyrights (see "Al Feldstein & Kurtzman Estate Attempt to Regain EC Copyrights").
