IDW Publishing will launch Transformers: Dark Cybertron, a 12-issue multi-title editorial event, in November. The action starts in Transformers: Dark Cybertron #1, alternates between the Robots in Disguise and More Than Meets the Eye monthlies, and culminates in March with Transformers: Dark Cybertron #2.
Former Wonder Woman artist Phil Jimenez, who helped plan the project, will draw layouts for the first issue, covers for issue #1, and variant covers for the whole series. Robots in Disguise illustrator Andrew Griffith will provide finished art for the debut issue.
The story, written by IDW senior editor John Barber and James Roberts, takes place in the aftermath of the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons. Peace is short-lived, however, when the evil Shockwave "enacts a scheme millions of years in the making."
After their initial release from IDW, all of the Dark Cyberton comics will be packaged with select Generations action figures produced by Hasbro, in an effort to introduce action figure purchasers to the comics.
