According to a listing on Amazon (brought to light by the sleuths at Anime on DVD), Viz will release the first DVD volume of the Corrector Yui anime series on July 1 with a retail price of $24.98.  Created by Kia Asamiya, Corrector Yui is a 'magical girl' anime in which the teenage heroine has to defeat a Tron-like computer conspiracy by 'debugging' a program bent on world domination.  Tokyopop published the five-volume Collector Yui manga series (by Keiko Okamoto and Kia Asamiya) in 2002.  There is also a Corrector Yui page on the Cartoon Network's website, indicating the potential for additional exposure for the property (which is not currently on the network's schedule).

Produced in partnership with the state-funded education channel NHKEP from 1999-2001, the 52-episode anime series directed by Yuji Muto features music by Kenji Kawai and a popular Beatlesque theme song.  The look of the series reflects its origins in shoujo manga and Yui waves a magic wand in the face of her high tech enemies in typical magical girl fashion.  This charming series is not for everyone, but the release of the anime series (and possible TV exposure) could bring additional interest to the manga series.
